Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is here to haunt viewers on digital streaming.
Set three years after the events of the hit 2021 hit Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire finds the Spengler family and Gary Grooberson (Paul Rudd) relocating from Oklahoma to New York City to take up the mantle of the original Ghostbusters team.
The living members of the team — Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) and Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) — however, are available to help the new crew out and they’re going to need it. That’s because Garraka — an evil spirit with the power to freeze — is freed from a mysterious orb and his existence could bring about a new ice age.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire was released Tuesday by Sony Pictures Entertainment on digital video and is now is available to rent or purchase on premium video on demand on such platforms as Prime Video, VUDU and AppleTV+. ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ Introduces Four New Key Characters
Joining the Ghostbusters acting ensemble for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire are actors Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, James Acaster and Emily Alyn Lind.
Nanjiani stars Nadeem Razmadd, a junk dealer who peddled off the orb containing Garraka, only to realize that he must play a larger role in the plot to stop the malevolent force.
In addition, Oswalt stars Dr. Hubert Wartzki, who plays a research librarian friend of Ray Stanz who needs to help unravel the mystery of the orb; while Acaster plays Dr. Lars Pinfield, a key research scientist who works for Winston Zeddemore.
Lynn stars in the pivotal role of Melody, a teen ghost who died tragically in a fire and befriends Phoebe. The introduction of Melody somewhat marks a first for a Ghostbusters movie in that Ghostbusters are supposed to bust ghosts and not becomes friends with them. However, Egon Spengler’s ghost at the end of Ghostbusters: Afterlife could technically be considered the first friendly spirit the team encounters.
