Real Madrid doesn't want Kylian Mbappe to announce his move to its club this week according to OK Diario director Eduardo Inda, who cited anonymous sources when appearing on the popular El Chiringuito program.
Mbappe told current employers Paris Saint-Germain that he won't renew his contract with them which expires on June 30, as previously reported by The Athletic and other outlets.
Barring a major last minute surprise, the Frenchman is widely expected to finally join Real Madrid after two false dawns in 2017 and 2022 left president Florentino Perez ditched at the altar.
Now all that remains is making the free transfer official and announcing it, as well as unveiling the Ballon d'Or hopeful at the Bernabeu.
While April was drawing to a close, AS reported that Madrid was mulling over three potential timeframes to announce the signing of its latest 21st century Galactico.
With both Madrid and PSG possibly reaching the Champions League final on June 1, doing this after the Wembley showdown on June 1 was one option.
Alternatively, the official communicado could be released after the Euros on July 14 or just before the continental tournament while Mbappe would be showed off at his new home stadium after the UEFA
According to Inda, however, Mbappe has his own plans.
"I'm told that Mbappe would be willing to announce where he will play next season if PSG is eliminated from the Champions League," he said, mentioning a development that could occur this week.
The Parisians trail Borussia Dortmund 1-0 in the UCL last four, with the decisive second leg played in the Parc des Princes on Tuesday.
"At his next club he has been told that if that happens he will [have to] wait several weeks. They don't want the announcement to tarnish the celebration of the La Liga title, the build-up to the final and eventually the final and the conquest of the fifteenth [title]," Inda added.
Mbappe is said to be in a rush to announce his next destination, but his entourage and Madrid prefer him to hold tight.
According to Inda, the forward's mother Fayza Lamari, who holds considerable influence over her son while also acting as his agent, also wants him to keep silent and at least wait until the end of the season to reveal his plans so as not to clash with PSG's ultras in what remains of the French domestic campaign.
