“Real Housewives” star Bethenny Frankel and Boston businessman Paul Bernon have broken off their engagement after close to six years of dating, according to reports from multiple outlets.

Us Weekly was the first to break the news that Frankel and Bernon, who first met through a dating app in 2018, split up in March.

Frankel has left her fans with questions in recent weeks when she began to alternate between wearing her massive engagement ring and appearing without it in photos and videos posted on her Instagram.

The report of the pair’s split came not long after Frankel announced the death of her mother, Bernadette Birk, from lung cancer.

After Frankel, 53, began dating Bernon, 45, in October 2018, the “Real Housewives of New York” star became a frequent sight in Boston, dining at restaurants like Bar Boulud and visiting Boston University, where both she and Bernon attended college.

According to Us Weekly, by 2019 the duo were living together in the Back Bay and were house-hunting in the area.

Bernon is the co-founder of film production company Burn Later Productions, known for movies like “Support the Girls” and “I Love My Dad,” as well as a principal at Wellesley-based firm Rubicon Real Estate LLC.

“I was pretty lucky when I walked in and saw him,” Frankel told People magazine in 2021 when recalling their first date. “He had a twinkle. He came as advertised — better than advertised. He overshot the mark.”

Frankel and Bernon briefly split in late 2020 before rekindling their relationship in January 2021, closely followed by a March 2021 engagement, according to People.

Bernon and Frankel’s representatives did not immediately return requests for comment.
