Given that the theme for the 2024 Met Gala was “The Garden of Time” to celebrate “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” it came as no surprise that celebs embraced the blossoming theme. Madelyn Cline wore a cream dress sprinkled with flowers, Camila Mendes opted for a 3D rose collar instead of a necklace, and Kim Kardashian pulled up in a metal floral lace gown. Give them their flowers, please!
But it wasn’t just floral frocks! A few celebs took things to the next level by incorporating both the Garden of Time theme and the iconic Y2K rosette trend into their hairdos. It ranged from all-out (see Zendaya, who wore a full bouquet designed by Philip Treacy for Alexander McQueen on her head) to surprisingly wearable hair accessories and clips for us regular folks.
Case in point: Kylie Jenner wore a simple pink rosette in her perfectly slicked-back updo to match her elegant gown, and Kelsey Ballerini pulled the pink and orange flowers that covered her gown up to her hair, dotting it with flowers of the exact same shade. Taraji P. Henson finished off her high bun with a handful of realistic-looking flower clips too!
Needless to say, I’ve been ~overcome~ with the desire to sweep my (recently short, RIP) hair up into an updo covered in gorgeous flowers.
Unfortunately, because the Met Gala is fashion’s unofficial Super Bowl, it’s safe to assume that celebrities are wearing thousands upon tens of thousands of dollars in accessories alone. But a rose(tte) by any other name is just as sweet, so I took it upon myself to find some excellent little rose hair accessories to add a little First Monday in May to your OOTD!
The little clips are perfect for securing your currently-in-the-process-of-being-grown-out impulse bangs, and of course, you can never have too many claw clips or scrunchies. I will personally be snagging a few of those rosette scrunchies to add a little “Oh, she actually tried” into my messy buns while I reset my countdown for the 2025 Met Gala. Just me?!
