Woman found dead in Braintree park pond identified as 79-year-old Weymouth resident

Foul play is not suspected in the woman’s death, officials said.

A woman who was found dead in a pond in Braintree Monday has been identified, officials announced Tuesday.

Mulain Chin, 79, of Weymouth, had gone to the park with a family member so that they could walk together, said David Traub, director of communications for Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey.

When Chin didn’t arrive at an expected meeting location, the family member reported it to a Braintree police officer who was in the park.

Chin was later discovered in shallow water near a small bridge in the park, Traub said.

The Officer of the Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on the body Tuesday and did not find signs of foul play in the death, Traub said.
