I wasn’t exaggerating when I wrote a few days ago that Netflix is starting to feel inessential, thanks to one garbage release after another. Case in point, just look at the list of TV shows dominating the newly updated Netflix Top 10 chart: Of all the prestige dramas, compelling docuseries, and Netflix original movies that are captivating audiences around the world right now, somehow the #1 TV title on the platform at the moment is a live comedy roast of former NFL star Tom Brady — one of the most uninteresting human beings on the planet.
The roast had its moments, and it even made news here and there (such as when Brady warned Jeff Ross “Don’t say that s**t again” after joking about the New England Patriots owner visiting a massage parlor). Celebs like Kim Kardashian, Ben Affleck, and even Ron Burgundy were on hand.
We’ll take a closer look at the event below — as well as the rest of the shows on this week’s Netflix Top 10 list.
Netflix Top 10 shows (April 29-May 5)
To learn more about some of the top series, you can also go deeper by checking out our previous coverage of several of the Netflix originals on this list, from the Guy Ritchie gangster romp The Gentlemen to a quirky series from the Obamas about podcasters visiting a picturesque Irish town, as well as Baby Reindeer — a drama everyone has been losing their minds over for the past several weeks, about a struggling British comedian and the woman who stalks him.
This week’s complete list of the Top 10 English-language shows on Netflix includes:
- The Roast of Tom Brady — 13.8 million views

Next, let’s zero in on the biggest Netflix TV release in the world this week.
The Roast of Tom Brady — #1 on Netflix
Three hours, people.
That’s how long Netflix’s Tom Brady roast lasted.
That’s more or less equivalent to the runtime of Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, which everyone and his brother assumed was dead on arrival when it hit Netflix for that very reason. Honestly, I don’t know what’s wrong with people anymore; of all the content available on Netflix, the title that’s leading the pack is this snoregasm filled with the worst celebrities. Even Burgundy felt a little off his game, joking about he both hates Brady and can’t help getting lost in his eyes.
“The GROAT, which streamed live as part of Netflix Is a Joke Fest from Inglewood, California, on Sunday night, was hosted by comedian Kevin Hart,” Netflix explains. “He did not mince words, introducing the ceremony by asking if 49ers legend Joe Montana was in fact the GOAT QB being celebrated.
“Nope. It was indeed Brady, who earned seven Super Bowl wins over 23 seasons, mostly with the New England Patriots. And the Kia Forum suddenly looked a bit different to Hart, a noted Eagles fan: ‘Tom brought Boston with him,’ he said. ‘I’ve never seen Inglewood so white.'”
