Minnesota Timberwolves star center Rudy Gobert is in the midst of what might be the best week of his life.

In addition to being named NBA Defensive Player of the Year for a record-tying fourth time on Tuesday, Gobert had the pleasure of witnessing the birth of his newborn son and then watching his teammates dominate the Denver Nuggets in a 106-80 victory on Monday to take a 2-0 series lead in the Western Conference Semifinals.

"It was incredible," Gobert said of Minnesota's victory while speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, per ESPN's Dave McMenamin. "I was exhausted, obviously, holding the baby and watching the game at the same time, but I had a little bit of emotions at the end because it felt like there was something special."

Despite missing their defensive anchor, the Timberwolves stifled the Nuggets and held them to a season-low 80 points while shooting just 34.9 percent from the field and also committing 16 turnovers. Gobert, who is now tied with Ben Wallace and Dikembe Mutombo for most DPOY awards, was blown away by Minnesota's performance without him.

"Their energy that they put in, their focus that they had, the determination," Gobert added. "I don't know, there was something special with the way they came out. And not just the way they came out, the way they played for 48 minutes that night. It was an incredible day. It was an incredible way to end the day for me and obviously for the whole."

Gobert is set to make his return for Game 3 in Minnesota on Friday, and he will receive the Hakeem Olajuwon Trophy during a pregame ceremony in front of excited home fans at the Target Center.
