Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of AEW Dynamite on May 8 from Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Here is a look at what All Elite Wrestling advertised heading into Wednesday's show:

    • Adam Copeland vs. Brody King (TNT Championship)
    • Mariah May vs. Harley Cameron
    • Orange Cassidy vs. Trent Beretta
    • Kenny Omega makes an announcement
    • Swerve Strickland and Christian Cage come face-to-face
    • Serena Deeb speaks

Let's take a look at what happened on Dynamite this week.

Orange Cassidy vs. Trent Beretta

After a quick backstage interview with Copeland, we went to the ring to watch OC take on Trent in a grudge match. As soon as the bell rang, both men were throwing hands.

Cassidy looked more aggressive than usual and took control immediately. They eventually took the fight out of the ring and into the crowd as OC continued to be the aggressor.

Don Callis showed up after they made it back to the ring and both men were trying to recover. The crowd was vocal about being unhappy to see him. He joined the commentary team during the break as Trent and OC went back and forth.

They did a good job making it look like Beretta knew all of Cassidy's tricks and had a counter for each one. Since this fight was so personal, neither man was interested in getting the pin quickly, so they took a long time to get to the first pinfall attempt.

After both men removed a turnbuckle pad, OC was able to send Trent into the exposed metal before rolling him up for a pin. As soon as he was back up, Beretta attacked OC again.

This was a decent bout that made it clear this feud was far from over, The ref ignored the rules a bit too much for a standard match, but most of what we saw was performed well.

Beretta hit a piledriver on the steel steps as he continued to dish out punishment. Callis ended up taking OC away while Kris Statlander tried to talk to Trent.

    Result: Cassidy defeated Beretta

    Grade: C+

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Someone in the crowd flashed the camera a bit during Cassidy's entrance.
    • The announcers mentioned Chuck Taylor will be undergoing surgery soon.
    • Cassidy hurdling the barricade was kind of impressive.

Mariah May vs. Harley Cameron

Kenny Omega gave a promo from a hospital bed after last week's attack. He said at Double or Nothing, he is booking Anarchy in the Arena. It will be The New Elite vs. FTR and two men who will be revealed at some point during the show.

We also got an interview with Serena and Tony Schiavone. She said losing to Toni Storm is not an option for her and spoke about how hard it was to return. Storm came out and mocked her. Serena ended up knocking her out cold.

The next match saw May take on Cameron. Saraya was at ringside but May was flying solo after Luther carried the women's champion away.

The former QTV personality had the upper hand early on, but once May recovered, she began controlling the pace a bit more. During the break, Saraya interfered by throwing May into the barricade while the ref was distracted.

This ended up being the best performance we have seen from Cameron in the ring, and thankfully, AEW gave them enough time so nothing felt rushed.

From an in-ring perspective, this was a solid outing for both women. After May scored the win, Mina Shirakawa made the save as Camron and Saraya kept attacking her. May scooped her up and they almost kissed again before deciding to have some champagne.

There is a good chance we will get May and Shirakawa vs. Saraya and Cameron at Double or Nothing by the looks of it.

    Result: May defeated Cameron

    Grade: C+

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Deeb's interview was very grounded and real. Her talking about the seizures she experienced was emotional.
    • This was the most wrestling ability we have seen from Cameron in AEW. It was nice getting to see her do more than comedy stuff for once.
    • Bullet Club Gold was shown backstage and had both the pink and black trios titles.

Rocky Romero vs. Jay White

The AEW world champion came to the ring and said he was in a fighting mood because Cage and his crew attacked him last week.

When The Patriarchy showed up, Brian Cage, Kaun and Toa Liona came from the crowd to provide backup for Swerve. Shockingly, Swerve's own men attacked him as Christian smiled. The segment ended with Swerve being put through the announce table.

The next match saw Jay White take on Rocky Romero with a shot at the trios titles on the line. The Gunns were at ringside while Romero was going it alone.

Both of these men are celebrated workers, so it's not going to surprise anyone to hear they worked really well together. It took them almost no time to go from 0-60.

This match had a little bit of everything and delivered some of the best action we've seen all night. Switchblade won with a Bladerunner to end a fun performance.

    Result: White defeated Romero

    Grade: B+

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • The Elite had a quick little video package that was funny. Seeing them run the show from backstage was entertaining, too.
    • Swerve found the only organic way to reference the Drake and Kendrick Lamar situation during this segment.
    • Willow Nightingale gave a great promo before this match.
    • Romero's suicide dive looks so effortless.

Chris Jericho and Big Bill vs. Local Talents

Two local talents were booked in a tag team match against Jericho and Big Bill this week. Jericho had a quick exchange before tagging in Bill to dominate.

After letting Bill work for a bit, The Learning Tree tagged back in and hit the Judas Effect for an easy win. This was one of the squashiest squashes to ever squash.

Result: Jericho and Big Bill win

    Grade: Incomplete

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Jericho purposely made the mistake of saying they were in Calgary to get some heat from the Edmonton crowd.

Adam Copeland vs. Brody King (TNT Title)

    Dynamite.AEW

The main event of this week's show was a No Disqualification match for the TNT Championship between Copeland and King. This was Cope's second defense against a member of House of Black.

They started out surprisingly normal with a lockup and a side headlock from King. He easily wiped out Copeland with a shoulder block.

They took the fight out of the ring during the break and began making use of the stipulations by bringing some weapons into the ring. King put The Rated-R Superstar through the wringer until Copeland was able to use a chair to dish out some punishment.

King was busted open and smiled at Copeland as the champ slapped him across the face. This match had plenty of time and lasted through the last two commercial breaks of the show.

This was as violent and physical as promised. King may not have won the title, but he showed the world he is capable of being a top singles talent. The champ retained his title with his trademark Spear to end a brutal fight. King attacked him once he was back up, but Kyle O'Reilly came out to make the save. KOR and Copeland ended the show standing tall.

    Result: Copeland defeated King

    Grade: B+

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Copeland's gear had the Canadian maple leaf on it in a few places. As usual, he was over with the Canadian crowd.
    • King standing on the apron for so long while Copeland ran the ropes to hit a running shoulder was awkward.
    • This was apparently the first time Copeland has performed in Edmonton in 14 years.
    • The pool of Blood from King's head wound was nuts.

The Final Word

6 of 6

The show ended with Mercedes Mone giving a quick interview and KOR asking Copeland for a TNT title shot next week, which was made official. When we returned to the arena, The Elite came out saying the show would only end when they said it could.

Kazuchika Okada taunted Omega and The Bucks did the same to Tony Khan. FTR came out to respond and reveal their partners for DoN. Eddie Kingston and Bryan Danielson came out to join the team and marched to the ring for a fight to officially end the episode.

This week's Dynamite was a heavy mix of storyline developments and matches. Five may sound low for an episode of Dynamite, but it worked because all of the non-wrestling segments were spaced out well.

Willow's promo was great, the brawl to end the show was a fun way to hype Anarchy in the Arena, and Romero put up a valiant effort against White in a great match.

However, the best thing we saw all night was King and Copeland's bloody title bout. The Rated-R Superstar continues to prove that he's still got what it takes every time he steps into the ring.

The card for Double or Nothing is shaping up nicely. Most of AEW's big stars are booked in matches now, but a few bouts will be added in the coming weeks based on what we saw on Dynamite.
