The UW women’s golf team finished in seventh place at the NCAA Cle Elum Regional, two positions out of moving on to the NCAA national championships later this month in Carlsbad, Calif.

“It’s just tough to finish that way,” UW head coach Mary Lou Mulflur said. “We just didn’t bring our best golf this week, and you can’t afford to do that. You have to play well. The teams here were very good, and we just didn’t have enough depth to kind of get it done.”

Two Huskies shared the teams’ low score, as senior Camille Boyd and freshman Vivian Lu each were 8-over for the 36-hole tournament, tying them for 22nd place. Lu had the low UW round of the day, with a 2-over 74, while Boyd was 4-over 76.

Seattle University finished in 12th place.

SU’s Rivekka Jumagulova finished tied for 47th at 16 over. WSU’s Madelyn Gamble was tied for 54th at 19 over.

Tacoma allowed a season-high 15 runs to Reno, surpassing its previous high of 11 runs April 19 at Las Vegas. Their 18 hits allowed also marked a season high, five more than the previous mark of 13 done three times.

Six of Reno’s starting nine batters recorded multi-hit efforts.

• The Vancouver Canadians (11-12) got two runs in the bottom of the eighth to escape with a 5-4 win over the visiting Everett AquaSox (11-16). Alex Sanchez had a three-run homer in the seventh for Everett.
