Tyler Guyton, Cowboys Agree to 4-Year, $13M Rookie Contract After 2024 NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys and offensive tackle Tyler Guyton have agreed to a four-year, $13.2 million rookie contract, according to ESPN's Todd Archer and Spotrac.

The deal includes a fifth-year club option that would extend Guyton's deal through the 2028 season.

The contract comes with a $6.4 million signing bonus, per Spotrac.

Guyton will first be eligible to sign an extension after the end of the 2026 campaign.

The Cowboys selected Guyton with the No. 29 pick after trading back for an additional third-rounder in the 2024 NFL Draft.

He is likely to earn an immediate starting role his rookie season as the Cowboys look for him to replace eight-time Pro Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith, who left for the New York Jets in free agency.

Guyton, who clocks in at 6-foot-8 and 322 pounds, took most of his snaps at right tackle in two seasons with Oklahoma.

He was an effective pass-blocker at the position, allowing no sacks on 355 pass-blocking snaps in 2023, according to Pro Football Focus.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy now expects Guyton to translate those skills to protecting quarterback Dak Prescott at left tackle.

McCarthy believes the transition will be possible because Guyton is already experienced with playing on a quarterback's blind side after defending left-hander Dillon Gabriel at Oklahoma, per Nick Harris of DallasCowboys.com.

Smith, the No. 9 pick of the 2011 draft, was a Week 1 starter who immediately became a key part of the Cowboys' offense line.

Dallas will now hope to set Guyton on a similar career trajectory as the team looks to build a strong OL around what could potentially be Prescott's final campaign with the team.
