Novak Djokovic wasn't taking any chances after accidentally being hit in the head by a water bottle at the Italian Open on Friday.

Djoker arrived at Foro Italico on Saturday wearing a helmet to protect himself:

The incident occurred after Djokovic's victory over Corentin Moutet in the second round. He was signing autographs for fans in the stands when a bottle hit him in the head.

It was initially thought that the bottle was intentionally thrown, but a different angle of the video showed it fell out of a backpack from a fan who was leaning over trying to get an autograph.

New angle, all clear now, Novak is fine 👇 <a href="https://t.co/LWhhpTN0DY">pic.twitter.com/LWhhpTN0DY</a>

Djokovic said afterward he was "fine" and "resting at the hotel with an ice pack."

Novak Djokovic @DjokerNole

Thank you for the messages of concern. This was an accident and I am fine resting at the hotel with an ice pack. See you all on Sunday. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/IBI24?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#IBI24</a>

Tournament organizers said in a statement Djokovic "received medical attention" before returning to his hotel, and his "condition is not a cause for concern."

Djokovic is participating in the Italian Open as a tune-up for the French Open. He defeated Moutet in straight sets and will take on Alejandro Tabilo in the third round on Sunday.

The 36-year-old is looking for his seventh victory at the Italian Open. His six career titles ranks second all-time, trailing only the 10 won by Rafael Nadal.

The 2024 French Open is set to begin on May 20. Djokovic won his third career title at Roland Garros last year.
