A 37-year man was fatally stabbed Saturday evening at the light rail station in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.

The station was closed for the evening while Seattle police investigated the attack, which was reported shortly before 6 p.m. Homicide detectives were still working to identify a suspect, police spokesperson Shawn Weismiller said.

Light rail passengers were told they could take a bus shuttle between the University of Washington and Westlake stations while the Capitol Hill station was closed. The station reopened at its normal time at 6 a.m. Sunday.

Weismiller said the victim had suffered “multiple stab wounds” and was treated on scene before being taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he died. No other victims were reported.

Homicide detectives were looking for witnesses and had yet to determine the circumstances surrounding the stabbing, Weismiller said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Seattle Police Department at 206-233-5000.
