Lok Sabha Polls 2024 phase 4 bank holidays: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that the fourth phase of the seven-phase Lok Sabha 2024 elections will be held on May 13. The counting of votes from all phases will take place on June 4. To facilitate a smooth voting process, schools and other educational institutions located within the constituencies will remain closed on the day of the election.

According to an ET report, banks in Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), Kanpur, and Srinagar will be closed on May 13 for the Phase 4 elections. Voting in this phase will be conducted in 96 constituencies across 10 states and Union Territories (UTs), including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Jammu and Kashmir.
The State Government of Andhra Pradesh has declared a public holiday on Monday, May 13, 2024, for all employees across various sectors, including local governments, Panchayat offices, central and state government agencies, and private sector businesses.
The RBI categorizes bank holidays into three types: the Negotiable Instruments Act Holiday, the Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and bank account closures.
In May, several bank holidays are scheduled, such as Maharashtra Din/May Day (Labour Day), Lok Sabha General Elections 2024, Birthday of Rabindranath Tagore, Basava Jayanti/Akshaya Tritiya, State Day, Buddha Pournima, and Nazrul Jayanti.
Phase 5 of the
Lok Sabha Elections 2024 is set to take place on May 20 in 8 states and UTs. Banks will be closed in Maharashtra on this day. Additionally, banks will be closed in Tripura, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu, Lucknow, Bengal, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Srinagar on May 23 for Buddha Pournima. On May 25, banks will be closed in Tripura and Orissa for Nazrul Jayanti and the Lok Sabha General Elections 2024.
