Camila Giorgi’s legal team has refuted recent reports suggesting that the tennis star fled to the USA to evade Italian tax authorities.
The former world No.26 Giorgi’s sudden and silent retirement from professional tennis sent shockwaves through the sports world, but the story took a dramatic turn with allegations of tax evasion, raising questions about the true motives behind her decision to quit tennis.
Shortly after these shocking reports, Giorgi finally officially announced retirement in a social media statement and also told her followers not to believe the stories they read in the media. The latest development comes from her legal team, asserting that the reason for her retirement was tiredness and is unrelated to any ongoing investigation by Italian authorities.
“Camila will return to Italy soon,” stated her lawyers Federico Marini and Cristian Carmelo Nicotra. They explained that her departure from the Calenzano residence is temporary, resulting from family disagreements and the need for a pause to reflect on life post-tennis.
