MARTINEZ — A man was sentenced to 18 years in state prison for killing Antioch’s first homicide victim of 2023, court records show.

Corey Hill, 20, was sentenced to 18 years after pleading no contest to voluntary manslaughter. In exchange for his no contest plea, prosecutors dropped a murder charge against him.

The plea deal was finalized in February but hasn’t been previously reported.

Hill shot and killed 25-year-old Emani Flenoid, of Pittsburg, during an argument outside of a liquor store on Sycamore Drive in Antioch, police said at the time. The shooting occurred a little before 11 a.m. on Jan. 17, 2023.

Hill was transferred to prison Feb. 8, 2023, almost a year to the day after prosecutors charged him with murder. He received credit for the year he spent in county jail while the case was pending, records show.
