Boxer Terence Crawford was quick to praise Oleksandr Usyk after the latter became the undisputed heavyweight champion with a split-decision victory Saturday.

Usyk won the fight and added the WBC title to his arsenal of the WBA, IBD and WBO belts that he had prior to the fith. After the win, Crawford took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to ask fans to respect Usyk.

Terence Crawford @terencecrawford

Man yall better put some respect on @usykaa man. He definitely a candidate for #1 P4P fighter in the world. I'm no hater. He beat the man that beat the man in a bigger division, giving what he's already done. Salute brother!

Crawford described Usyk as a "candidate" for the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

Usyk improved to 22-0 with 14 knockouts after the victory while Fury suffered his first professional loss and fell to 34-1-1. Fury notably said that he didn't agree with the ruling.

Crawford is surely qualified to evaluate, considering that he has held world championships in multiple different weight classes. He possesses a 40-0 record and currently holds the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO welterweight title.

This shows how highly Usyk is regarded by Crawford, as he could be considered a candidate for the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

Usyk and Fury are expected to have a rematch in October, and a win in that fight could push Usyk's case even further.
