TAIPEI: Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense (MND) said they detected seven Chinese military aircraft and seven vessels from the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessels operating in the vicinity of Taiwan on Sunday, these military assets were detected up until 6 am.
In response to the situation, Taiwan's Armed Forces (ROC Armed Forces) have closely monitored the activities and taken appropriate measures to address the situation, the MND said.

In a post on social media platform X, Taiwan's Defense Ministry said, "7 PLA aircraft and 7 PLAN vessels operating around Taiwan were detected up until 6 am (UTC+8) today. #ROCArmedForces have monitored the situation and responded accordingly."
This recent incident follows a similar occurrence on Saturday when Taiwan's MND confirmed the detection of a significant number of Chinese military aircraft and vessels near Taiwan.
According to the ministry's statement, a total of 18 Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft and four PLAN vessels were detected up until 6 am local time (UTC+8) that day.
Among them 12 of the detected aircraft were reported to have crossed the median line and entered Taiwan's northern and southwest Air Defense Identification Zones (ADIZ).
The increased presence of Chinese military assets near Taiwan highlights the ongoing geopolitical tensions between the two entities.

China has long claimed sovereignty over Taiwan and has expressed its ambitions to reunify the island with the mainland, even if it requires the use of force. Taiwan, on the other hand, has consistently raised concerns about China's military activities and its ambitions regarding the island's status.
As part of its efforts to monitor and report on Chinese military activities, the MND has been issuing daily reports for the past few years identifying Chinese aircraft, drones, and balloons that are found to have crossed the Taiwan Strait median line and entered the Taiwan side of the region.
