Pakistani doctor with loaded pistol on duty, accidentally open fires on her patient

NEW DELHI: A doctor named Dr Hina Manzoor accidentally shot her patient at the Tehsil headquarters hospital in Pakistan's Safdarabad, Sheikhupura district.
According to Pakistani media outlet ARY News, the incident occurred when the doctor, who had kept a pistol in her purse while on duty, attempted to retrieve the firearm, causing it to discharge and injure the patient identified as Asia Bibi in the arm.
Responding quickly to the situation the doctor personally transported the wounded patient to the hospital for further treatment in her own vehicle.
The patient's family later confirmed the incident, but the hospital administration refused to release CCTV footage to reporters, adding an element of mystery to the unfolding events.
In another separate incident, a woman in the Gujranwala district of Punjab province lost her life while cleaning her husband's pistol. The firearm accidentally discharged during the cleaning process, resulting in the woman's death. Police promptly secured the area, collected evidence, and initiated medico-legal procedures at a nearby hospital where the body was taken, as reported by ARY News.
"We are investigating the incident from all angles," said the police, stressing on their commitment to a thorough examination of the tragic incident.
This tragic event is reminiscent of a similar case in Karachi's Gulistan-e-Johar block 11 area, where a 30-year-old man died after accidentally shooting himself while cleaning a gun at his home.
