Bridgerton season 3 has been out on Netflix for a few days now, and that’s been enough for both critics and fans to form opinions of at least the first four episodes, given that Netflix has chopped the season in half and will be releasing the other four a month from now in June.
But we can only review what’s in front of us, so here we are. Is season 3 better or worse than other seasons of the show? And are you aware the absolute best-reviewed season is going to surprise you? Maybe not.
Here is the ranking order for critic and audience scores for Bridgerton via Rotten Tomatoes, with these first-half season 3 reviews included.
- Bridgerton Season 1 – 87% critics, 71% audience
- Bridgerton Season 2 – 77% critics, 75% audience
- Bridgerton Season 3 – 82% critics, 89% audience
- Queen Charlotte (prequel) – 95% critics, 73% audience score
So, the good news is that for now, season 3 of Bridgerton has the highest audience scores out of any of the seasons by a pretty significant margin, meaning people seem to definitely be connecting with the story.
It also reviewed better than season 2, though worse than season 1, and far and away, Queen Charlotte is the critical favorite of the bunch, even though it’s the second worst-rated one by audiences. But all of these numbers are in the “good” range and the show has not dropped a truly bad season yet, or really even close to one.
That’s good news for Netflix that no doubt plans to renew this should indefinitely given the miles of source material available and the fact that these seasons are highly watched and generally well-liked. In an era when Stranger Things and The Crown are going/have gone away, Netflix needs its staples and a show like Bridgerton absolutely fits the bill. We have seen this time and again, and I would not be surprised that once the numbers come in, that season 3 is going to best the early totals of the other three seasons here.
The biggest challenge facing Bridgerton is the lengthy gap between seasons where fans have to wait years for new ones. But now with seasons 3 and 4 being renewed at the same time and the fourth no doubt being in development a while, that wait time may be cut down. But speaking of waiting, I’m not sure how amused fans are about this need to wait a month until the next batch of four episodes. And I suppose these scores could go up or down then.
