If you have fine or thin hair, then you know how difficult it can be to find the right products. I love testing anything in the hair-care category — from masks to high-tech tools. But occasionally, I find myself feeling like Goldilocks. (Honestly, I'll never understand why TF she didn't just go for the biggest bed? Hello, Goldilocks? BFFR.)

My hair is color-treated and I love to heat style it, so it's also (surprise, surprise) damaged. Finding products that are a good mix between hydrating but not too heavy for my delicate hair can often be a challenge. When I had the opportunity to test Dae's newest launch, the Mirage Mist Leave-In Conditioner ($30), I was excited, but a little apprehensive. I'm a fan of the brand, but again, some products just plain don't work for my hair type. Fortunately, the product worked for me — and I kinda fell in love with it.

If you've been searching for your new holy grail leave-in product that smells great and actually works, keep scrolling to read my full review of the new Dae Mirage Mist Leave-In Conditioner.

What I Like About the Dae Mirage Mist Leave-In Conditioner

This is the perfect product for both when my hair is squeaky clean from the shower and when it's super dirty. I love that the mist is versatile enough to use multiple ways. Plus, the fact that it protects my hair against heat is a huge win. Typically, I use a detangling product and then a second leave-in heat protectant, so this eliminates my need for a second product.

Before I used it on my hair for the first time, I unscrewed the cap so I could check out the smell. I'm a huge fan of Dae's signature scent, which smells like an orange banana smoothie — good enough to drink (but definitely don't do that).

The spray nozzle makes it easy to concentrate the product on specific areas of my hair, and it doesn't weigh my hair down or leave it feeling sticky whatsoever. (IMO, there's nothing worse than a product that leaves my freshly washed hair feeling like it needs to get washed all over again.)

Also, I'd be remiss not to touch on the chic packaging. Dae has some of the cutest, most Instagram-worthy packaging out there, and this product is no exception. Although I keep all of my hair products safely tucked away in my bathroom cabinet, this one is in the running for a permanent spot next to my sink.

How to Use the Dae Mirage Mist Leave-In Conditioner

After washing and conditioning your hair, the brand recommends towel-drying and then misting the product evenly from roots to tips. From there, it suggests combing through and then styling as usual. The product can also be used on dry hair to refresh curls or smooth down flyaways and frizz.

When I use this leave-in mist directly out of the shower, I spritz it over my hair evenly, comb it through, and then heat style as usual. If I use it on dirty hair, I like to spray it all over and get my hair saturated, and then I follow up with the Dae Cactus Fruit 3-in-1 Styling Cream ($30) to slick everything back into a low or high ponytail.

What to Consider Before Trying the Dae Mirage Mist Leave-In Conditioner

If you have an aversion to strong smells, I'd suggest checking out the scent of this product in-store before purchasing it. Personally, I love the brand's signature citrus scent, but it is quite strong. I don't think the scent lasts too long in my hair, but it's something to be aware of if you don't like heavy scents in your hair products.
