I Tried a "Bridgerton"-Inspired Hairstyle and Got Tons of Compliments

I love my hair. Sure, it has its downsides — it's thin, it turns brassy whenever I dye it, and it's a little damaged from heat styling — but for the most part, I can't complain. It holds a curl well, I can go a good number of days in between washes, and it's growing long (slowly but surely).

Although I get most of my hair inspiration from celebrities I follow or scrolling TikTok, there are occasions when I find new looks from movies or shows, and after digging into season three of "Bridgerton,", which aired on May 16, I was ready to try out some new looks.

In all honesty, I didn't think "Bridgerton" would be a show I ever sourced inspiration from for a few main reasons. There are a lot of updos on the show, and I usually only wear my hair up if I'm working out (even then, I do anything wild or out of the box; just your run-of-the-mill ponytail). Also, I've found that throughout most of the three seasons, the characters have maintained similar looks — curls or ringlets, wispy tendrils, and lots and lots of accessories (and I'm not a hair accessories girl by any means).

I'll occasionally throw on a hat or a headband if my hair is dirty, but if it's clean, I usually wear it down and in loose waves or I'll give myself a bouncy blowout. The only accessory I reach for is either a hair tie or a claw-clip, but in the spirit of trying new things, I opted to grab a whole bunch of bows, headbands, and floral clips to test a few "Bridgerton"-inspired hairstyles out.

I started with a half-up, half-down style, which I rarely do because if my hair looks good, I typically wear it all the way down. Before tying the top half back, I pulled out a few "tendrils" from the front. I wear my hair down the middle 99 percent of the time, but I opted to flip my front pieces to one side to give my look a little "spice."

I secured the top half of my hair with a thin Goody Ouchless Hair Tie ($5). From there, I took the small ponytail and started wrapping it into a bun, which I secured with another hair tie. The bun looked a little goofy, so I ended up flattening it using a few Amazon Basics Bobby Pins ($5).

Next, I curled the remainder of my hair using the Hairbeauron 27D Plus 1.4 inch ($950) before it was time to accessorize. I had a hard time picking which piece I wanted to go with, but I decided on the Rpzl Clarke Pearl Bow ($40). Bows are having a moment right now, and I couldn't get over how detailed and chic this pearl one was. I ended up placing it directly underneath my bun rather than on top of it because I thought it added a lot to the style.

The finished look was entirely different from anything I would normally wear, but I actually loved how it came together. I ended up going out to dinner with my girlfriends with this hairstyle and every single one of them commented on how cute my hair looked. Although I usually shy away from complicated hair looks, I think "Bridgerton" might just inspire me to keep switching things up on a regular basis.
