LSU offensive lineman Will Campbell has visited the Patriots, according to ESPN’s Jordan Reid.
Campbell, who is projected as a potential top-10 pick, is one of the top offensive tackle prospects in this year’s draft class. He told Reid that he would not participate in LSU’s Pro Day, opting to stick with his numbers from the combine.
The 6-foot-6, 323-pound offensive tackle has been floated as an option for the Patriots at No. 4. There have been concerns about how short his arms are. His arms were measured at 32 5/8 inches. Teams have historically preferred tackles with longer arms than that.
“For two years, nobody had any measurements on me and nobody said anything about my play,” Campbell said, according to Sports Illustrated. “So now, all of a sudden, arm length decides if I’m a good player or not? I think it’s B.S.”
Campbell has proven that he can play at a high level in college. He was a consensus first-team All-America selection this season and is considered to be one of the most decorated offensive linemen in LSU history.
#LSU OL Will Campbell confirmed to us on @SECNetwork that he will not participate in pro day today and stand on his numbers from the Scouting Combine. He’s already visited the Patriots and will visit the Raiders later this week.

The Patriots have needs at many positions, but left-tackle is one of the most glaring holes. New England allowed 52 sacks last season, fifth-most in the NFL. They’ll need to protect Drake Maye, and a sturdy left-tackle would go a long way towards doing that.
New England attempted to start Chuks Okorafor at left tackle last season, but he wound up leaving the team. Vederian Lowe started 13 games at tackle for the Patriots last year, and he ranked 102 out of 141 tackles according to Pro Football Focus.
MassLive reported that the Patriots have tried to sign multiple veterans to bolster the position. There is still work to do there.
