BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 8/6 Florida softball team (41-11, 12-8 SEC) dropped a heart breaker to No. 10 LSU (38-11, 10-10 SEC) on Sunday evening, with the Tigers walking-off the Gators in the bottom of the seventh to take a 2-1 win.
Sophomore right-handed pitcher
Ava Brown threw a gem in the circle for the Gators, tossing 5.2 innings, allowing just three hits and one earned run off a solo home run.
Freshman
Katelynn Oxley entered the game in bottom of the sixth with a runner on first and two outs and got the Tigers swinging to end the frame.
She ran into trouble in the seventh with LSU tallying a leadoff single, followed by a sacrifice bunt that put the runner on second with one out.
A groundout advanced the Tiger base runner to third, before LSU walked it off with an RBI single.
The potent Florida offense was limited to a season-low two hits, with
Kendra Falby driving in the Gators' sole run of the day, an RBI double that missed leaving the field by inches, scoring pinch runner
Kylie Shaw.
Florida and LSU will battle for the series on Monday evening at 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
