If there was one hairstyle that defined the 2025 Met Gala on May 5, it had to be the "dollop bang." This style is no stranger to the red carpet. In fact, since early this year, this look has been spotted on celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Megan Thee Stallion, and Camille Razat, and it seems the trend is still picking up steam.

A dollop bang, also known as a kiss curl, refers to a singular lock or chunk of hair that's slicked down and swooped to perfection to create a crescent-like curl over the center of the forehead. Instead of having an entire forehead full of chopped bangs, this look focuses on just one piece of hair that creates a dramatic focal point at the center of your face.

There was no shortage of stars who rocked this trend at this year's Met Gala. Ayo Edebiri, Simone Biles, and even Bad Bunny got in on it. If you don't have bangs, no problem, the look can be created out of longer hair on the head without having to cut it into a shorter length. It works with updos, slicked back buns, hair of all lengths, or even pixie cuts.

Consider this your official sign to play with dollop bangs this summer (your hair's likely going to be stuck to your face with rising temperatures anyway), and go ahead and use these pictures as your hair-spiration. Keep scrolling to see all of the kiss curls on the 2025 Met Gala red carpet.

Angel Reese's Dollop Bangs

Chicago's very own Angel Reese attended her second Met Gala and did so as a host committee member, which is a title bestowed upon celebrities by Anna Wintour to help honor and encourage attendance at the ball. Reese wore a Thom Browne two-piece suit, Graff diamond jewelry, Sephora makeup products, and, of course, a dollop bang. The bang, paired with a flipped-out, above-the-shoulder bob, mixes 1920s and '70s hairstyles together for a unique look that certainly allowed those drop diamond earrings to shine.

Gabrielle Union's Dollop Bangs

Gabrielle Union showcased a different kind of dollop bang. Instead of having a small chunk of hair stand out from the rest to create a bang, she used a larger piece of hair coiffed into a bang. "I folded her bangs back into her bun, giving a nod to Old Hollywood before rolling her hair into a stocking," says Union's hairstylist Larry Sims in a press release. "I wanted the look to be polished, so I finished it off with the FHI Heat Curve Styling Iron ($200) to accomplish a smooth, hydrated texture." Union wore custom Prada and walked the Met Gala carpet with her husband, Dwyane Wade.

Bad Bunny wore custom Prada to the ball and every detail — from the tiny sunglasses to the woven hat — was spot on. But the stand-out for us has to be the tiny dollop bang. His hair, done by celebrity hairstylist Ryan Austin using IGK Hair products, showcases how impactful a singular kiss curl can be.

Hairstylist Glen Oropeza used Kérastase Gloss Absolu Glaze Drops ($36) to control frizz and shine and prep the hair. He "left out a few pieces in the front of the head to create 'finger swirls' using my tail comb and Kérastase Laque Extreme Hair Spray ($38)," Oropeza says in a press release.
