We are deep into National Poetry Month, but ample opportunity remains to pay homage to the literary art that so persuasively appeals to both our cerebral and our emotional selves.
Consider the Poetry Live! event the Walnut Creek Library Foundation is sponsoring on April 29 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the library’s Oak View Room. Moderated by Walnut Creek poet Cheryl Dumesnil, the program will present Santa Cruz poet Ellen Bass, whose third book of poetry, “Like a Beggar,” has just been published, and El Cerrito poet Tess Taylor, author of “The Forage House.” Bass, who has been published in The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly and the New Republic, is also the author of “The Human Line” and “Mules of Love.” Taylor, a poetry correspondent for National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered” who also writes about art, books, food and urban life for the New York Times, teaches at UC Berkeley.
The event is free, but patrons are asked to register at www.wclibrary.org for a reserved seat. The library is at 1644 N. Broadway.
