Central Florida security expert hosting active shooter training for students
As lawmakers debate what to do about guns and school safety, many parents are having a hard conversation with their children.
What do you do if something happens in your school?
A Central Florida security expert is trying to help answer that question by training students.
On Sunday, an active shooter training course will be offered for teens and parents.
Security experts, doctors, and personal safety experts will lead the students in the 3-hour course. The goal is to equip them with ways to stay safe.
“Fear is the last thing we want. We want a level of education and empowerment,” security expert Zach Hudson said.
Hudson said participants will go through three different stations during the training.
“So your first station will be active shooter. Your second station will be self defense, and your third station will be trauma care. How to stop that bleeding,” he said.
Hudson, who will lead the instruction recommends the training for anyone 13 and older. The training will run from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Lake Mary Prep School in Lake Mary.
Advanced registration is recommended, and parents may also attend. The registration fee will be donated to the fund helping victims of the Parkland shooting.
