Tyson Jost officially called up to Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche have officially recalled Tyson Jost from the AHL as of Monday afternoon. Jost was sent down to the AHL Colorado Eagles 26 days ago on January 17th, a few games before the Bye Week. It is unclear as of right now whether he will be in the lineup tomorrow night against the Toronto Maple Leafs, but we should have more information following morning skate in Denver.

Jost only played in eight games with the Eagles as a result of an injury he suffered on January 26th against the Ontario Reign in the second period. According to Jared Bednar in early February, Jost missed two games with the Eagles while he was rehabbing with the NHL training staff.Within two weeks, Jost was deemed healthy and was able to skate in games on February 8th and 9th against the visiting Stockton Heat.

Before the injury, Jost was skating on the first line and put up four points (3g, 1a) and had 14 shots on goal in six games. Jost was really coming alive in those last two games, he had put up three goals and nine shots in the four-plus periods before he was knocked out of the game. After his return to injury, Jost was able to put up one goal and five shots in two games before the Avalanche felt comfortable to call him up.

It hasn’t been confirmed that Jost will play on Tuesday night against Toronto, but the Eagles play at home on the same night, so if Jost isn’t scheduled to play the Maple Leafs there’s no reason for him to sit in the pressbox while the Eagles play the San Diego Gulls in the same city. It’ll be interesting where Jost fits into the lineup in his return and if there will be any rust — especially since his time in the AHL wasn’t exactly smooth sailing. The Maple Leafs will be one heck of an opponents to play against. Their offense is both fast and deep to go along with a defense corps that has been much improved since the trade for Jake Muzzin.
