Model and former Teen Vogue and Allure cover star, Halima Aden, closed the Christian Cowan show wearing a black and neon suit with a chain-link rhinestone hijab. This look shows the 23-year-old British designer at his greatest: making clothes for women who want to stand out.

This season, he continued that message with ‘80s-inspired neon dresses, leggings, face masks made out of gems, and over-the-top feather dresses balanced by tangerine leather button-ups and velvet minis. The show was an ode to the Powerpuff Girls, with sparkly suits in green, blue, and pink, representing the colors that the superheros wore on the cartoon show.

Sitting front row were style stars including model Slick Woods and Pose star MJ Rodriguez, staying true to Christian Cowan’s style and standing out as much as the models on the runway did.

We love Cowan's take on the hijab, and better yet, love to see designers interpret and reinvent the piece. It sends a signal that the hijab does have a place in our culture for women who choose to wear it, and they can be damn fashionable, too.
