Porcelanosa Signs 10-Year Lease for Industry City Showroom
Industry City is a hotbed of top-tier designer wares. Design Within Reach, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, Restoration Hardware’s outlet, and ABC Carpet & Home’s outlet all call the space home. Spanish design brand Porcelanosa is ready to join them, signing a new ten-year lease on a 6,500-square-foot showroom in the warehouse-style space. Known for its tile, kitchen, and bathroom products, the brand will open its doors this summer in Brooklyn.

New Study Shows This Weekend Is Best for Selecting Hamptons Homes
According to a new study by Out East, real estate website StreetEasy’s Hamptons arm, now is the time buyers are scooping up properties in the Hamptons for the summer season. According to data from the previous year, home inventories increased by 17.5 percent between late December and mid-February. This year, there are reportedly 1,000 more rentals on the market today than in early January. The study also shows that the best homes will sell fast between now and April. This could be the perfect time to start reaching out to clients who are considering buying into the area.

NYBG to Feature "The Orchid Show: Singapore"
One of the best shows of the New York Botanical Garden each year, the annual orchid exhibition is returning for its 17th iteration. "The Orchid Show: Singapore" will run from February 23 to April 28 and feature thousands of orchids in a range of sizes and colors, paying homage to the importance of orchids in Singaporean culture.

New Bill Calls for Building Construction to Use Bird-Safe Glass
Birds regularly fly into nearly invisible windows and get injured. That’s why New York assemblymember Deborah Glick has introduced Bill A00705, which calls for all new construction jobs to use bird-friendly glass that is UV-protected or fritted glass, which is approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

BIG Announces New Tower: The Spiral
Bjarke Ingles has announced that his design firm, BIG, will be constructing a new tower at the northern end of the High Line. The building will feature a series of outdoor green areas, one per floor, that wrap around the structure in a spiral. The design will also reach 1,005 feet into the sky and will include 2.85 million square feet of office space.

Grand Hyatt Hotel Midtown to Be Torn Down for a Taller Building
The Grand Hyatt, the massive glass-coated building next to Grand Central Station, will reportedly be torn down to construct an even larger building in its place. Developers TF Cornerstone and MSD Partners will build in its stead a new high-rise totaling 2 million square feet. The 26-story hotel was built in 1919 and renovated by Donald Trump in the late 1970s. It was this renovation that replaced the original façade with the glass panes that cover it today.
