US 2020 Census: Debate over citizenship question

For the first time, the US government wants to force everyone to answer whether they are US citizens on the country’s 2020 census.

Rights groups in the United States are going to the supreme court to stop changes to the census.

They say plans to add a question asking whether someone is an American citizen is a deliberate attempt to intimidate immigrants.
