It’s not every day that a lauded Austin bar takes over one of the Boston area’s best cocktail bars.

But on Thursday, the talented folks from Austin’s The Roosevelt Room will get behind the stick at Blossom Bar at Sichuan Garden, a Brookline destination run by acclaimed bartender Ran Duan, who also runs the award-winning bar Baldwin and Sons Trading Co. in Woburn.

Roosevelt Room owners Justin Lavenue and Dennis Gobis, along with bartenders Eric Day and Matt Korzelius, will offer a menu featuring a handful of the Austin bar’s greatest hits at Blossom Bar from 10 p.m.–2 a.m. on Thursday. There’s the Cigar Box, made with mezcal, smoked black tea syrup, lavender bitters, and tobacco essence, and the Silver Meadows, a complex concoction featuring tequila, pisco, sake, and foie gras-washed St. Germain. The Roosevelt Room also has an extensive tiki section on its menu, and the staff will serve their classic Mai Tai. Other drinks from the guest menu will include Milk Punch, The Poet’s Muse, Far From the Tree, and White Tuxedo.

Between the two bars, there are plenty of accolades to go around. Blossom Bar, which opened in January 2018, landed on Imbibe Magazine’s The Imbibe 75 list last year, and was nominated for a Tales of the Cocktail Best New Cocktail Bar award in the USA – EAST category. Bostonians can find the Brookline cocktail bar — and Baldwin and Sons — on best-of lists in The Boston Globe, Boston Magazine, Boston.com, and Eater Boston. The Roosevelt Room received a nomination for Best American High Volume Cocktail Bar at the 2018 Tales of the Cocktail’s Spirited Awards, and has won multiple awards from Eater Austin, Time Out Austin, CultureMap, and more.

The takeover kicks off the night before Thirst Boston, a weekend-long cocktail festival that runs from Friday, April 26 to Sunday, April 28. Tickets are still available for the festival, which will include classes, panels, demonstrations, and walking cocktail tours throughout the city.
