This Easter weekend, Adele's rep confirmed that the singer was ending things with her husband, Simon Konecki, whom she was with for nearly seven years. The split was a surprise to many, but yesterday both People and E! shared some details about why the couple are separating and why their divorce isn't likely to get contentious.

Adele's rep made it clear to everyone that the two plan to co-parent their six-year-old son Angelo together. "Adele and her partner have separated. They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment."

People reiterated this, reporting that Angelo is Adele's sole focus now. “Adele’s son is everything to her. Her whole life revolves around him,” a source in Adele's social circle told the outlet. “I just can’t see her divorce getting messy because she’s so careful when it comes to her son. She’s always five steps ahead in terms of how a decision will affect him.”

E! also reported from its own source that Adele's split is unlikely to be messy. Adele and Konecki plan to "keep this amicable," the source said, because of their son. "It's highly unlikely this is going to get ugly."

That source explained why the couple decided to separate: "They had a lot in common early on, but eventually they just grew apart. She became a bigger and bigger star, and he was okay [with] being in the background, but as she got bigger and had massive tours and intense schedules, they just grew apart."

The source said that it had been a happy marriage throughout their years together: "Their marriage was clearly working for a very long time," that insider continued. "Whenever she was out at big openings and special events, he was usually with her, and they looked really just happy together and in love. They were into the marriage pretty much until they decided this just isn't working anymore."
