Following
This article is more than 4 years old.

Italian designer, Fabrizio Viti brings a strong and very chic footwear game to the market.

For Viti his shoe story began at the prestigious Istituto Marangoni in Milan where he learned the trade, and he's remained in the industry for 20 years, perfecting the art of the shoe. So perfect in fact that he's worked for and collaborated with the best of the best - leading fashion houses and designers from Prada to Gucci, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton all wanting to utilize his creative vision. And he has a unique process to realize his vision which includes constructing doll-sized shoes to picture his ideas in scale before manufacturing them.

Then, in June 2016, he debuted his namesake footwear brand with his first collection entitled, "Please don't Eat the Daisies." You'll notice themes throughout his designs, such as his love the American cinema of the 1960s which is evident through his vibrant color palette and vintage silhouettes; a stylish manifestation only possible when the va va voom of Ava Gardner is combined with the elegance of Grace Kelly.

Felicity Carter: What was your first fashionable memory?

Fabrizio Viti: I think it was Lauren Bacall on TV with big shoulder pads and I was asking myself why my sisters didn't look like that!

Fabrizio Viti

FC: What lured you into the industry?

FV: I never saw fashion as an industry. I just knew that I wanted to work for beauty and fashion to me is about beauty in different aspects.

Fabrizio Viti

FC: Why footwear? What is it about them that you love so much?

FV: Because shoes are little sculptures...they carry the whole body and they can add an attitude on a person. And shoes evolve all the time!

Fabrizio Viti

FC: How would you sum up the aesthetic?

FV: The aesthetic is really about joyfulness, femininity and elegance. And about times like the 60s and 70s that will always inspire me.

Fabrizio Viti

FC: What are the pillars of your brand?

FV: I like to think that my brand is about shoes that can bring joy to my clients.  I want them to be nice to look at but most of all they have to live on the feet of the women because that's the reason why I create them.

Fabrizio Viti

FC: What is luxury to you?

FV: Luxury to me is the freedom to choose and as an independent brand, this is very relevant.

Fabrizio Viti

FC: Who is the FV woman?

FV: I don't think that there is a specific FV woman.  I do what I do for the women around me and each one is different. I also try to bring variety to my collections that could fulfill today's woman's needs.

Fabrizio Viti

FC: What's the greatest lesson learned when it comes to working in the fashion industry?

FV: Get a good lawyer! And listen to other people's opinions with one ear only and leave the other ear free to listen to one's heart and brain.
