Krispy Kreme makes major upgrade to its iconic glazed doughnut

Updated

Gone are the days where we must choose between a warm and sticky glazed doughnut or a decadent and gooey Boston Creme: Krispy Kreme just made our Monday a little bit sweeter with a major upgrade to its signature menu item, offering customers the best of both worlds.

On Monday, the beloved doughnut chain announced that it's offering another version of its iconic glazed doughnut by pumping it with filling. Customers can choose between either Classic Kreme or Chocolate Kreme-versions of the house's signature doughnut, which will be offered on its menu permanently beginning June 17th.

The upgrade marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landings, a watershed in American history that Krispy Kreme helped to celebrate.

"Krispy Kreme was at the launch of Apollo 11, serving fresh doughnuts to Americans witnessing liftoff of this monumental mission," explained Dave Skena, Chief Marketing Officer. "As America prepares to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, we want to give our fans a new taste experience that is out of this world."
