John Legend says this is the conversation every couple should have (Exclusive)

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen's strong relationship is one we can all aspire to.

"Chrissy and I obviously both work and are both busy, and I think our jobs as partners is to support each other and, as parents, is to be true partners when it comes to parenting. I think that's an important conversation for every couple to have," the Grammy-winning singer told AOL during a conversation in partnership with Pampers.

Maintaining balance and treating each other as equals is what makes John and Chrissy's power-couple marriage work so well. The couple, who share daughter Luna, 3, and son Miles, 1, are constantly giving fans an inside look of candid moments with their children on social media. And, although Chrissy works just as much as John, he notes that women should not be the only ones "responsible for child care."

"I think there is a lot of cultural stigma and a lot of tradition around 'men are supposed to do this and women are supposed to do this,' and I don't know the full history of those gender roles over the years, but clearly it's kind of been baked into our society that that was the expectation," Legend explained. "There are great conversations being had that men should be sharing the parenting duties, that for women to have equality on every other sphere of life, when it comes to life and work and all of these other things. Part of what needs to happen to make sure that they're not the only ones that are responsible for child care and that there's a sharing of the parenting duties, sharing of the household duties, and that it's a true partnership."

The "All Of Me" singer is continuing his partnership with Pampers to bring awareness to the lack of changing tables in public men's restrooms. After an Instagram post went viral by Donte Palmer, showing how uncomfortable his son was having to be changed across his knees, Pampers and Koala Kare teamed up to install 5,000 changing tables in men's restrooms all across America over the next two years.

"Social media does move conversations forward. It highlights issues and I think the right visual story-telling with photos or videos can be really useful. Even the campaign we started with me singing and changing Luna's diaper when she was a baby -- all of that has been part of moving this conversation forward so that dads and moms are really sharing the parenting duties," Legend said.

During a trip to Italy last week, Chrissy revealed that their baby boy Miles might take his first steps: "I think someone’s gonna take his first steps in Italy! oh dear,” she said on Instagram has he attempted to walk.

However, John gave AOL an update, noting that he is close to walking, but not all the way there yet.

"He's still getting close! He's kicking and pulling himself up on coffee tables and whatever surface he can reach and standing up and kind of siding along but he's not able to independently walk yet."

"I think he's a little more mellow than she [Luna] was at his age so she's probably a little more like Chrissy and Miles is little more like me so far. But who knows...It's clear with me that Luna's a lot smarter and a lot faster than I expected her to be. I didn't know exactly when she would start having full on negotiation conversations, but I don't think I expected it to be this young [laughing]. She just amazes me every day," he gushed.
