There are a lot of sources of entertainment that I never thought would make sense as inspiration for makeup collections, and yet, we've seen so many movies, TV shows, and other media phenomenons — both current and nostalgic — turned into super-successful beauty collaborations. (Allure's digital makeup editor Sable Yong and I will be the first in line if someone ever launches a Wayne's World makeup line.) So I can't say I'm surprised that Wet n Wild has just introduced a limited-edition collection inspired by arcade (turned console turned computer turned hand-held device) game Pac-Man, but I'm sure as hell delighted.

My face lit up like a retro cabinet output when I read the product description for the Pac-Man Limited Edition Collection Box on Ulta's website. "Bring the arcade scene to life in your makeup bag with the Pac-Man Limited Edition Collection Box," it reads, promising to "take you on a walk down memory lane with re-imagined old school formulas and supercharged color payoff. This kit has everything you need to create a full face summer glow that not even the baddest ghost can chase away."

However, the sentence in the product description that nearly made me fold backwards and die as if an 8-bit ghost snuck up behind me is, "Basically, you only need a blue freezie, some quarters, and your girl gang, and you're set for endless 90's fun and style." Aside from the misplaced apostrophe (it's '90s, not 90's, y'all), Pac-Man is so totally not a 1990s thing. It was, in fact, released in 1980, and it was one of the biggest pop-culture crazes of the early '80s, spawning a Saturday-morning cartoon series, a hit song called "Pac-Man Fever," and even a Weird Al Yankovich spoof of The Beatles' "Taxman."

Anyway, now that I've set that straight, let's focus on the adorable contents of this collection, which comes in a circular box emblazoned with our hero's unmistakable profile. The products are perfectly named for Pac-Man references: Game Over Color Palette; Ghost Glosses in Inky, Pinky, Blinky, and Clyde; Bonus Fruit Lip Balm and Lip Scrub, High Score Blush Palette, Power Pellets Highlighter and Bronzer, and the Waka Waka Waka Powder Brush and Eyeshadow Brush. As of now, the 12 products aren't sold individually. (Not that you'd want just one.)

This isn't the first vintage video-game makeup collection to launch recently. In May, Ipsy introduced an incredible Tetris collaboration in honor of the (decidedly more '90s) game's anniversary. And now, thanks to Wet n Wild, you can add to your gamer gorgeousness with this Pac-Man treasury. Get it for $70 now at ulta.com.
