DAVV CET 2019: MP govt removes Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya VC over alleged mismanagement

INDORE: A day after over 1300 students were deprived of appearing in common entrance test (CET) for Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) courses, Madhya Pradesh government invoked section 52 of the MP Universities Act, 1973 and removed varsity vice-chancellor Dr NK Dhakad.
On directions of the governor, higher education additional chief secretary Saleena Singh issued the orders to invoke Section 52 of the Act following ‘reports and material provided to the government over mismanagement’ in the DAVV.
The section allows the government to invoke emergency provisions to provide better administration of university in exigent circumstances.
"If this is the decision of the government, I will accept it. I have done work from my end," said Dhakad to the reporters.
Around 1300 candidates of Common Entrance Test (CET) type I examination could not write the exam on Sunday due to technical issues, leading huge uproar from parents and students alike.
The varsity witnessed several protests on campus throughout the day. Amidst police security, Dhakad was taken out of the campus from the backdoor as the student leaders were distributing sweets to all present on campus in wake of his removal.
The computer based examination was conducted over one and a half hours late due to technical glitches for the undergraduate courses which were in group A1 whereas the examination of group B2 which comprised of post graduate courses was cancelled on Sunday.
