Pepsi Celebrated 40 Years In North Macedonia

This article is more than 4 years old.

Skopje city center, a huge 3D mapping of the entire parking garage building says “40 years Pepsi” with the recognizable Pepsi branding. At the same time, the sky above Skopje is colored in blue, with the spectacular fireworks from the top of the building. And up there, Prilep Brewery is celebrating two very important jubilees for the company, 40 years of Pepsi and 95 years of Prilep Brewery.

Prilep Brewery is one of the biggest beverage producers in North Macedonia and the exclusive PepsiCo bottler in the country. Together with the American giant, both companies have invested over $50 million in North Macedonia for marketing, assets and other investments. According to PepsiCo representatives, the small market of fewer than 2 million people has one of the best ratios of Pepsi sales compared to Coca-Cola.

It is something that doesn't go unnoticed by the global food and beverage company. Over the last 15 years, Prilep Brewery has won many exceptional awards from PepsiCo, for being a top quality performer among the franchise-owned bottling operators. Two times winning the bronze, three times winning the silver, once winning the gold award for top quality, with the top prize being the one in 2014 when PepsiCo decided to give Prilep Brewery the Chairman's Circle of Champions award. In competition with PepsiCo manufacturers from all over the world, the factory based in Prilep, a city with a population of just 60,000, was the only European based corporation that won the great accolade. Only a quarter of 1% PepsiCo producers in the world received this award, which indicates the extreme rarity.

The celebration of the anniversary was attended by high-ranking European PepsiCo representatives, friends, associates and business partners of Prilep Brewery, celebrities and media outlets. To celebrate the occasion with the general public, Prilep Brewery and PepsiCo have a big prize winning game active, where every day in June they give out 40,000 denars (650) to one lucky winner, and on July 1, the luckiest fan of Pepsi will win 400,000 denars (6,500) in a live draw. The prize-winning game sparked great interest in the country because of the low average salary of just 352 a month, according to regional media reports.
