Founded in 2012, Solid & Striped has spent the last few years building a gigantic fanbase for its chic swimwear and summery apparel, calling itself a "collection for everything under the sun." And now, that phrase rings even truer thanks to the brand's new endeavor into skin care — but not just any skin care. Sunscreen, of course.

"Suncare seemed like the natural next step for Solid & Striped and the perfect extension of our swimwear collections," Isaac Ross, the brand's founder, said in a press release. "We're excited to launch suncare that can be used at the beach or year-round as part of your daily routine. We worked hard to create a product with a modern formula free of ingredients that are harmful to marine life and the environment."

The brand has been hinting on social media about today's launch for the last 24 hours or so, sharing graphical-text posts with phrases like "tan responsibly" and "practice safe sun," the latter of which appears to be spelled out in one of the two new products. The first is All-Over Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30 — available in an eight-ounce full size and three-ounce travel size — and the second is the sheer, lightweight Face Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30. Both boast being water-resistant, dermatologist-tested, and suitable for all skin tones on the simple yet bold bottles.

Between the product-development know-how of Alexis Page — who's previously worked on formulas for Glossier, M.A.C., and Pat McGrath Labs — and the packaging instincts of creative director Ezra Petronio, Solid & Striped offers up a solid (pun intended) first go at beauty with products that look good in the bottle and even better (read: invisible) on skin. And in addition to Ross's promise that formulas are eco-friendly, they're also vegan, cruelty-free, and devoid of many ingredients that people prefer to avoid in their sunscreens, like oxybenzone, retinyl palmitate, gluten, and mineral oil.

"Solid & Striped has such a strong brand identity, it made sense for them to expand into suncare," Page said in the press release. "They now provide everything you need for vacation: a bikini, sundress, and sunscreen."

Both the All-Over and Face Sunscreens are available individually, ranging from $14 to $28, and you can get both packaged neatly in a travel set for $38. (And later this summer, you can expect a Sun Balm SPF 45.) Be one of the first to try Solid & Striped's suncare collection by shopping solidandstriped.com now.
