It's official: The Hills 2.0, aka The Hills: New Beginnings, is finally hitting our screens tonight (June 24). However, when MTV announced that they'd be bringing back The Hills, there were two people noticeably missing from the trailer: your favorite frenemies of all time, Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari. Neither of them will be joining the reboot, but for different reasons.

As for Lauren, a source told People, “She’s in a different place in her life. But she wants everyone to enjoy themselves. She wishes everyone the best.”

She's currently working on her line for Kohl's, running her website, and managing a nonprofit. Plus, she has an adorable toddler named Liam and another bb on the way!

"She loves being a mother and focusing on her family and on her work,” the source said. “She has a very full and happy life.”

Besides, it seems like *some* of The Hills: New Beginnings cast are actually glad that Lauren won't be returning. "I actually was kind of excited Lauren wasn't on it because I felt like it was more freeing and fair, like, for me," Heidi Pratt said in an interview with ABC News' Abbie Boudreau. The years may pass, but it seems like the bitterness between these two has not.

Kristin, on the other hand, can't do the show because of her contractual obligations with E!. Her show Very Cavallari, which follows her life with husband Jay Cutler, premiered earlier this summer. “She can’t do the show because she has a contract with E!” a source said. “But she’s still close with Heidi [Montag] and Spencer [Pratt] and is excited for them.”

She told People earlier last summer that reliving her moments from the show is definitely a little awkward now that she's older.

“I think MTV played them a couple summers ago and my husband Jay put them on as a joke to mess with me," she said. "It was definitely cringeworthy—I know what I did! I know what happened.”

She then confirmed that she wouldn't even want to appear in the show beyond a quick cameo in an interview with Hollywood Life.

“As a mom and as a wife—If it was just me and I just had myself to look after, but mentally and emotionally, I could not have gone back to that same place. There’s just no way."

Kristin's latest IG post, a cute pool selfie with hubby Jay, confirms that Kristin's head is very much at home and not in The Hills.

However, plenty of our old faves, including Brody Jenner, Audrina Patridge, Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, and Stephanie Pratt will still be part of the cast. There'll even be some new faces, including all the bbs and Mischa Barton (?!). The Hills: New Beginnings premieres on MTV on June 24 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
