First Druze pilot finishes training with support from Muslim school

G., a trainee in the prestigious Israel Air Force pilot course, will soon make history by becoming the first pilot from Israel’s Druze community.In an unusual twist, the educational staff and high school students of his predominantly Muslim school heard that G. completed the course and sent him a letter congratulating him on his success and encouraging him. They even organized a photo shoot to go along with the card, which included warm personal greetings and blessings.The pilot attended one of the country’s Darca schools for children in Israel’s periphery.“G. is an ambitious young man who, with all his confidence and charisma, is a very humble person – an energetic, modest, caring and loving student,” recalled Kamil Shila, principal of the Darka Yarka School of Science and Leadership. “Even after his graduation, he would come and speak to the students about excellence and aspirations.”Shila added that “G. was and still is a friend of everyone, teachers and students alike. He new how to respect every person, and we at school salute him for his work and wish him a lot of success along the way.”
