Android Pie updates spread to HTC U12+ in Europe and HTC U11 in North America
After more losing quarters than we can count and a slow descent into smartphone market irrelevance, HTC is somehow still alive and (occasionally) kicking, releasing (overpriced) new handsets, preparing the revival of a once beloved brand, and sluggishly bringing fresh software updates to its old devices.

With a stable Android Q rollout for Google Pixel phones presumably right around the corner, HTC continues to struggle with the wide-scale delivery of Pie goodies. According to multiple reports on Twitter today, the U12+ is receiving Android 9.0 enhancements in certain parts of the old continent, while the same OS promotion appears to be finally making its way to North America as far as the U11 is concerned.

Before getting too excited, we should point out these are somewhat isolated reports in both Europe and Canada, so it remains unclear if all HTC U12+ owners across the former continent and U11 users in the US will be able to join the party soon. Previously, the two handsets were treated to Pie-flavored OS makeovers in Taiwan after a bit of a snafu for the U11, which also started receiving the update in select European markets just last week.

Interestingly, it seems that there are actually two different updates rolling out to the U12+ as we speak, namely a smaller one focused entirely on "important" system enhancements and a larger package that bumps up the OS build from 8.0 to 9.0. Meanwhile, the HTC U11 is looking at a single 1.3GB or so collection of Android Pie improvements and tweaks, combined with other "system enhancements" and the removal of Google+ from BlinkFeed.
