PUNE: City’s
Rajat Rathi emerged country topper in the foundation course of the
chartered accountancy examination. The results were announced on late Tuesday evening by the
Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Rathi scored 87.50 percent in the examination to grab top position.
The overall pass percentage of the foundation course was 18.58. Rathi said that, “I still don’t believe I have stood first in the country. I was confident of scoring good marks.
I studied science in my junior college so my mathematical skills are good.But I had to really work hard for accounts subject. I would spend two to three hours for preparation of the exam three months before. When the exam was approaching, about three weeks before I would spend about six to seven hours studying.”
The exam was conducted in the month of May and close to 31,000 students from India and abroad attempted the exam from 305 centres. Among the students who passed the exam, 3,296 were male and 2,457 were female candidates.
