Seminar on 'thinking social' held at SPPU

PUNE: A seminar on 'thinking social' was organised on Sunday by the Savitribai Phule Pune University, IIM-C Incubatiin Park and Tata Social Enterprise. Pro-vice-chancellor, N.S. Umarani, focused on need for social entrepreneurship which is need of the society. Speaking on the occasion, Apoorva Palkar, director innovation, incubation and linkages emphasised on the ability of startups to think social.
She stated that social problems need to be addressed by innovators and they have to be scalable and profitable.Students, Swapnil Chaturvedi and Upmanyu Patil, shared success stories of their social enterprise . Geeta Tolia, investor and mentor for social startups emphasised on need of finance and funding.
IIM -C Incubatiin Park mentor, Suman Mukhopadhyay, shared various areas that startups could work on. He shared details about the Tata enterprise challenge that is currently open.
Program was attended by 180 participants who are likely to be in social entrepreneurship space . Five companies made pitch presentation to the jury
Founder of Bee Basket, Amit Godse and Harshad Bhagwat of Wordsmaya Edutech shared their success stories.
