Concealer is my ride-or-die makeup product. It's the one item I'd absolutely need to have on a deserted island with me if I somehow ever were to be shipwrecked (in addition to food, of course). I have far from perfect skin. I'm prone to acne and hyperpigmentation, as I'm a big picker, so my breakouts often turn into dark marks. I'm also one of those people who naturally has dark undereye circles. (Yay, genetics).

While I've made peace with skin's idiosyncrasies, for the most part, I feel more comfortable facing the public after concealing my undereye bags with a foolproof concealer. Not only does it ward off unsolicited questioning about the state of my health and if I'm sleeping enough, covering up bags boosts my confidence.

Still, as much as I adore the magical effects of concealer, I've always had a tough time finding ones that work for my caramel complexion — especially full-coverage options that completely up my dark spots and undereye circles without looking cakey. Thankfully, in the Post-Fenty era, more brands these days are making inclusivity a priority and are creating base products that can work across the diverse spectrum of human skin.

Enter: the CoverGirl Trublend Undercover Concealer. When I initially opened it up to test it out, I was a bit nervous about by the thick and creamy formula for fear that it would just sit on top of my face. But, when I started blending it out around my undereye area with a Beautyblender, it sank into my skin seamlessly, instantly brightening my face without leaving behind a thick layer of fleshy spackle. Plus, the chubby doe-foot applicator makes it ideal for disguising monster zits and dark spots elsewhere on my face. I've even tried a darker hue for contouring and was impressed by how well it worked in that capacity, and how chiseled my cheeks looked afterward. Fair warning, though, this formula dries down fairly quickly, so you have to move quickly, and it's best to blend it out with a sponge of some sort instead of your fingertips.

In addition to its stellar performance, this workhouse concealer comes in 30 shades, with options for people with all kinds of skin tones, including someone with a complexion like the popular beauty influencer Nyma Tang — my benchmark for whether a shade range is truly inclusive, and this one aces the test. To top it off, not only does this concealer wear like a dream and stays in place all day wherever it's applied, it's less than $10. (No wonder it won an Allure Best of Beauty award.) Consider me sold.
