Ana Ivanovic sure knows what it feels like to say goodbye to professional sports career and today she was by her husband Bastian Schweinsteiger‘s side as he closed one big chapter in his life, retiring from soccer at the age of 35.
The 31-year-old Ivanovic welcomed her husband to the world of young millionaire pensioners:
Congratulations on the amazing career my love, Bastian Schweinsteiger! I can’t wait to see what adventure is next in our future with our wonderful little family. I couldn’t be more proud today, we love you.
The midfielder, considered one of the best German players ever, announced his decision in a statement released on social media:
Saying goodbye as an active player makes me feel a little nostalgic, but I am also looking forward to the exciting challenges that await me soon. I will remain faithful to football. Many, many thanks for the time we spent together, I will always have a place for you in my heart.
Ana and Basti got married in July 2016 and the former women’s tennis world No.1 abruptly left the sport shortly afterwards, in December 2016. Three years into the marriage and their family already has two new members, two sons, Luka born in March 2018 and Leon born in August this year. Both times Ivanovic gave birth in Chicago, where Bastian played for Chicago Fire since 2017.
Schweinsteiger was most famous for his time with Bayern Munich, where he won the Champions League, while he also played sparingly for Manchester United between 2015 and 2017. Germany’s fourth most-capped player of all time won the 2014 World Cup, as well as eight Bundesliga titles with Bayern.
Can life be any better for these two lovebirds? Both in their 30s, with two babies that celebrate their love, free time and enough money to never worry about the future.
