Nearly one year has passed since Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen died of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma at the age of 65, but the multibillionaire's many holdings are only just starting to pop up for sale. Most recently, one of his 10 sprawling estates—specifically, a seven-bedroom, 13-bathroom, 21,030-square-foot property in Atherton, California—hit the market for $41.488 million.

The Silicon Valley town is believed to be one of the country's wealthiest zip codes, but Allen's estate is pricey even for Atherton. It is presently the most expensive home on the market in the surrounding area—even beating NBA star Stephen Curry's recent $31 million purchase nearby. The late tech mogul picked up the opulent spec-built home for $27 million back in November 2013. Largely contemporary on the outside, with well-kept lawns, a large motor court, and clean-lined patios, the abode sits on two acres of land along with a five-car garage and separate guesthouse.

Light wood and glass can be found throughout the property.

Inside the three-story home, the space is sunlit and welcoming, with seven fireplaces and entire walls of glass windows sprinkled throughout. A double-height great room features views of the backyard and has two separate sitting areas; an adjacent formal dining room features its own modern, elevated glass-fronted fireplace, and the library just on the other side of the great room is anchored by another fireplace flanked by built-in bookshelves. The kitchen boasts two marble-topped islands and a nearby breakfast room surrounded by walls of glass windows. A cozy family room features a unique double-height ceiling with wooden slats.

One floor up, the master suite boasts a private sitting room, a luxurious bathroom, and a walk-in, boutique-style dressing area and closet. Out back is a swimming pool with a cabana and a separate area featuring an impressive outdoor fireplace, plus a number of different patios.
