UPDATE: The Black Widow has been revealed and it's none other than Raven-Symoné! I'll give you a moment to make a bunch of "That's So Raven" jokes to yourself, bye!

No, you’re not hallucinating, and yes, The Masked Singer is still inviting mystery sorta-celebrities to freak you TF out by donning full-on masks and custom costumes and singing on your TV. The show is wildly ridiculous and alarming, but TBH, it’s exactly what we deserve in 2019 and it does make for good TV.

So far this season, our eyeballs have been forced to gaze upon celebs dressed as grinning skeletons, steampunk foxes, and leopards in Elizabethan-era gowns. Like I said, alarming. Anyway, The Masked Singer airs tonight, and the Black Widow is set to perform again, which brings us to the Black-Widow-conspiracy-theory hole I’m barely crawling out of now. Without further ado, let’s start with some clues.

The Clues

As any Masked Singer fan worth their salt knows, each celebrity makes a creepy “clue package” filled with hints about themselves. It’s handy because viewers can then guess who they are and shout at the TV when judge Robin Thicke says a singer is Hillary Clinton when it’s cuh-learly Meryl Streep trying to feel alive again after that Emmy-worthy bloodcurdling scream on Big Little Lies.

So far, we know the Black Widow loves a tarot card reference, has an “empire,” has spent “years of living in the public eye,” and uses a few acting references, so you’ve probably seen them on TV or the big screen. Also, peaches seem to hold some significance for this person, so keep that in mind!

The Performance

Black Widow opted to sing and crawl across the stage to “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.” Solid choice!

The Theories

#1: Amber Riley

After the judges watched the Black Widow perform, Jenny McCarthy thought it had to be someone from Glee, like Amber Riley, which is laughable. There’s no way the Black Widow and Amber, who sang “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” just as good as the original, are the same person. Sorry, but no. Myth busted.

#2: Yvette Nicole Brown

Judge Kevin Jeong went with one of his Community castmates and said it was Yvette Nicole Brown because she’s actually a great singer. Here she is schooling the Victoria cast on carrying a tune:

An interesting guess!

#3: A Real Housewife of Atlanta

In doing my research on the Black Widow, I came across a theory that said it was someone from the Real Housewives of Atlanta because of the peaches. This person guessed it could be Kandi Burruss but admitted they had their reservations. If it had to be anyone from the show, my money is on “Don’t Be Tardy for the Party” singer Kim Zolciak, who honestly would probs go on this show.

#4: Scarlett Johansson

Going out on a limb here, but this could very well be Scarlett Johansson, who plays the Black Widow in all those Marvel movies. I mean, this person did say they can “hide in plain sight,” which sounds like when Scarlett defended taking roles from transgender people and people of color by saying she “should be able to play any person or any tree or any animal.” Also, remember ScarJo’s singing career?! Just sayin’! Think about it!

#5: Raven-Symoné

Okay, aside from my solid ScarJo theory, this one has multiple facts to back up those clues. First off, the Black Widow is definitely an actor, and so is Raven. And as anyone who grew up watching Disney knows, she played a psychic on That’s So Raven (hence the tarot card/fortune-telling reference) and she’s a singer and one-third of the Cheetah Girls, so she’s got the pipes. Given her Disney background, you can see why the Black Widow would say, “You’ll find I’m a little edgier, darker, and more alien than you know me to be.”

Also, fans on YouTube pointed out that the Black Widow mentioned their “empire,” which could be a reference to how Raven starred on the FOX show Empire. And! (Sorry, I’m really into this theory.) Black Widow’s clues came with a bunch of peaches, which isn’t a reference to Timothée Chalamet in Call Me by Your Name but instead hinting at how Raven was born in Georgia and had that State of Georgia show on ABC Family.

#6: Miranda Lambert

I believe this was a guess from Ken, and as we all know, he’s constantly wrong about everything. I would bet approximately one million dollars that Very Famous Country Star Miranda Lambert did not crawl into a spider costume in a quest for lovable public humiliation, but I’m willing to put it to a vote:

And with that, I think this case is closed. Tune in to watch The Masked Singer at 8 p.m. ET on FOX to see if the Black Widow is actually a tree Scarlett Johansson, Amber Riley, or Raven-Symoné.
