• Bachelor in Paradise’s Mike Johnson went on the Strahan, Sara and Keke show this week and asked Keke Palmer on a date.
  • He was criticized her asking her out while she was working and on live TV.
  • Keke recently commented on the incident and said she felt “ambushed” by him.

Um, so I know a lot of people were rooting for Bachelor in Paradise contestant Mike Johnson, but Twitter is coming for him right now because he asked out Keke Palmer on live TV. On Tuesday’s segment of Strahan, Sara, and Keke, Mike admitted that he messed up while he dated Demi Lovato before turning to ask Keke on a date. It was uncomfortable to say the very least, and Keke just said she felt totally “ambushed” by him.

After the original segment, people criticized Mike for putting her on the spot and asking her out while she was working. Some viewers also called him out for being a “celebrity chaser” and asking her out just so he can get another 15 minutes of fame. During the show, Keke was obviously not pleased and begged Michael Strahan and Sara Haines to ask another question and change the subject.

And earlier today, Keke said she definitely isn’t going out with him and addressed exactly what was going through her mind during that interaction. She shared, “I get real spooked about entertainers or reality [stars]…I don’t know, it really scares me to date people in the industry—that’s number one. Number two: He asked me in front of everybody.” When Sara asked her if she felt “ambushed,” she said, “I felt ambushed. I felt like it was a big ol’ gag.”

So yeah, in case it wasn’t obvious before, don’t pressure people into going out with you! It doesn’t end well!

As for what Mike thinks about all this, he tweeted that he just “deflected a question posed to me on my dating life,” that he loves black women, and that he’s happy.

Hmmm. Lots to think about here.
