HYDERABAD: The
Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) collaborated with the with the
Lakshmi Mittal and Family, South Asian Institute (LMSAI),
Harvard University to take up initiatives in order to promote and facilitate creation of new knowledge in
Biosciences.
According to a press release issued by TSCHE, as part of the collaboration, an eighteen months fellowship will be provided to the Life Sciences students to experience the higher education in Harvard University or other institutions in the Boston.
Two weeks of hands-on workshops, a young scientists development course, on topics related to Biosciences will be held annually. Apart from this, two seminars will be held annually in Indian cities to highlight the output and contributions of scientists, including those who have undergone this program.
"LMSAI is also working on soft robotics toolkit. The goal of this project is to develop an educational kit based on a concept of the soft robotics toolkit research platform developed at Harvard Biodesign Lab. The standalone kit will provide hands-on materials and guidelines to teach robotics to school-aged children in India," read the press release.
Along with these Vinod Kumar, vice-chairman of
Telangana State Planning Board and former member of Parliament suggested that LMSAI should explore the possibility of setting up of research centres in Hyderabad. The members also have planned workshops in the areas of
artificial intelligence in different areas such as neurosciences.
